Brent Keith Thompson (born January 9, 1971 in Calgary, Alberta) is a retired professional ice hockey defenceman who played 121 games in the National Hockey League. He played for the Winnipeg Jets, Phoenix Coyotes, and Los Angeles Kings. He is currently the head coach for the Alaska Aces of the ECHL.
He was a defensive defenceman who played junior for the Medicine Hat Tigers. The Los Angeles Kings chose him 39th in the 1989 NHL Entry Draft.
Turning pro in 1991-92, he split his first three pro seasons between the Kings and the Phoenix Roadrunners. He then signed as a free agent with the Winnipeg Jets in 1994. He only played 40 games for the Jets and the Phoenix Coyotes.
After 1996 he was strictly a minor leaguer until his retirement in 2005.
He was then an assistant coach of the Peoria Rivermen until 2009. In 2009-10 he is the head coach of the Alaska Aces of the ECHL.
