Branislav Konrád (born on October 10, 1987 in Nitra) is a Slovak professional ice hockey goaltender who is currently playing with the HC Olomouc of the Tipsport Extraliga.
Club career[]
Konrád began his junior career with the HK Nitra/HKm Nitra organisation. He made his senior debut in the 2005-06 season when he played 36 games with the HK Nitra under-20 team, 2 games with the HK Nitra[1] of the T-com Extraliga and 5 regular season games and 1 play-off game with the MHC Prievidza of the 1. Hokejová Liga SR.
In the 2006-07 season, Konrád played 1 game with the HC Slovan Ústečtí Lvi under-20 team, 9 regular season games and 6 play-off games with the HK Nitra of the Slovnaft Extraliga (formerly T-com Extraliga) and 3 games with the HK Lokomotíva Nové Zámky of the 1. Hokejová Liga SR.
Konrád began the following season with the HK Nitra of the Slovnaft Extraliga and played there 26 games before he moved to the Metallurg Zhlobin of the BHL where he played 5 regular season games and 2 play-off games. He also played one game with the Metallurg Zhlobin-2 of the Belarusian Vysshaya Liga.
In the 2008-09 season played Konrád 13 regular season games and was the second goalie in the play-offs with the HC Slovan Bratislava of the Slovnaft Extraliga and also played 13 regular season games and 3 play-off games on loan with the HK Ružinov 99 Bratislava of the 1. Hokejová Liga SR.
Konrád continued with the HC Slovan Bratislava of the Slovnaft Extraliga (since the 2011-12 season called the Tipsport Extraliga) and since the 2012-13 season of the KHL. In the 2009-10 season, he was the goalie who had most wins (31), most shutouts (6), best goals against average (2.02) and best save percentage (.940) in the Slovnaft Extraliga. In the 2011-12 season, he became the Slovak champion, made it into the Tipsport Extraliga All-Star Team as he was the Tipsport Extraliga goalie with most shutouts (7) and was also named the European Trophy 3rd Best Player.
Konrád began the 2013-14 season with the HK Nové Zámky (formerly HK Lokomotíva Nové Zámky) of the MOL Liga but he was only the second goalie in a few games and did not make an appearance on the ice. He was loaned for 3 games to the HC Oceláři Třinec of the Czech Tipsport Extraliga instead. After that, he moved to the Heilbronner Falken of the DEL2 where he finished the season with 20 regular season gamed and 1 relegation game played.
In the 2014-15 season played Konrád with the HK Dukla Trenčín of the Slovak Tipsport Extraliga and became the Tipsport Extraliga goalie with the best goals against average (.934) in the league.
Since 2015, Konrád is playing with the HC Olomouc of the Czech Tipsport Extraliga. In the 2015-16 season, he had the best goals against average (1.83), best save percentage (.929) and most shutouts (6) in the Tipsport Extraliga. In the 2017-18 season, he was the goalie with most shutouts (7) in the Tipsport Extraliga again. He is currently signed with the HC Olomouc until the end of the 2021-22 season.
International career[]
Konrád played with the Slovak National Team at the 2005 World U18 Championship, 2007 World Junior Championship, 2007, 2015 and 2016 World Championships (at the 2007 and 2015 tournaments only as the second goalie who did not play a single second) and at the 2018 Olympics.
