Brandon Scanlin (born June 2, 1999) is a Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman who currently plays for the Hartford Wolf Pack as a prospect of the New York Rangers of the National Hockey League (NHL).
Playing career[]
Scanlin played collegiate hockey for the University of Nebraska-Omaha.[1] Before college he played for the Brooks Bandits of the Alberta Junior Hockey League.[2] He was undrafted by the NHL, but after his college career ended in 2022 he was signed as a free agent by the Rangers. The Rangers sent him to their American Hockey League affiliate, the Hartford Wolf Pack, where he played 15 games in the 2021–22 season, scoring no goals and one assist.[3]
In 61 games for the Wolf Pack in 2022–23, he scored 4 goals and had 11 assists.[3] In the 2023–24 season he again started the campaign with the Hartford Wolf Pack. In February 2024 he signed a two-year contract extension with the Rangers.[4] He was recalled to the Rangers on March 18 due to an injury to Ryan Lindgren and made his NHL debut on March 26 in a game against the Philadelphia Flyers.[5][6] After Hartford was eliminated from the Calder Cup playoffs, he was recalled to the Rangers roster for the Stanley Cup playoffs.[7]
