) is a retired Canadian professional defenceman who played in the NHL for 18 years, between 1979 and 1997. While not a terribly strong skater, he is widely considered one of the best and most punishing defensive defencemen of all time.He died in 2011.
Playing career
McCrimmon was drafted 15th overall by the Boston Bruins in the 1979 NHL Entry Draft. He won the Stanley Cup in 1989 with the Calgary Flames. He is currently assistant coach for the Detroit Red Wings.
