William Whelton (born August 28, 1958 in Everett, Massachusetts) is a retired professional ice hockey defenceman. who played two games in the National Hockey League. He played two games for the Winnipeg Jets in the 1980-81 season.
He played at Boston University from 1978 to 1981. The Jets chose him 61st overall in the 1979 NHL Entry Draft.
Whelton retired in 1986 after spending a season in Finland and one in Italy.
