Bill Daley

Daley with Boston College Eagles

Bill Daley born in Wellesley, Massachusetts in 1940 was a member of the Boston College Eagles men's ice hockey team from 1958-59 to 1960-61. He would later play at the senior level for the Waterville Bruins and in the USHL for the Des Moines Oak Leafs.

He would later serve as an assistant coach from 1966 to 1972 under coach Snooks Kelley when Kelley retired.

Career at Boston College[]

Among his notable accomplishments at Boston College:

  • scored 1st goal ever at McHugh Forum
  • 5 hat tricks during his senior season of 1960-61
  • Led BC to Beanpot victories in 1959 and 1961
  • Holds Beanpot single game record for assist with 6
  • led BC in goals each of his three seasons
  • led the team in assists in 1961
  • led the team in points in 1958-59 and 1960-61
  • Named to the college All-East teams in 1960 and 1961
  • His 153 points at BC would hold (or co-hold ) the school record until 1969
  • His 76 assist would hold the BC record until 1973
  • His 74 points in 1960-61 would be the school record until being passed by Scott Harlow during the 1985-86 season
  • Inducted in Boston College Hall of Fame in 2002
  • Inducted into the Beanpot Hall of Fame in 2006.
  • Named to BC's 25 All-Time Greatest Athletes in 2021 (among only 4 members of the men's ice hockey team on the list)
  • BC would symbolically retire his jersey number
