Mark Bavis Ice Arena

The Mark Bavis Ice Arena is an indoor arena located in Rockland, Massachusetts.  The arena contains two sheets of ice. 

Naming of the Rink[]

The arena is named in honor of Mark Bavis.  Mark was a Massachusetts native who attended Catholic Memorial High School and was a member of three state championship teams while attending.  He would go on to attend Boston University and have a brief minor league career with the South Carolina Stingrays of the ECHL before turning to coaching in the junior and collegiate levels.  He would become a scout for the Los Angeles Kings in 2000 working under Garnet "Ace" Bailey.  Bavis and Bailey would both be aboard United Flight 175 on September 11, 2001 which crashed into the South Tower of the World Trade Center in New York City.
