The Babson Beavers are a Men's Division III team in New England Hockey Conference, this conference was known as ECAC East until 2015.  The team represents Babson College and is based out of Wellesley, Massachusetts.  The team plays out of the Babson Skating Center.  The school does not offer women's varsity ice hockey, but does offer it at the club level, as well as men's ice hockey at the club level too.

Men's program

Ice hockey at Babson appears to have started around the 1946-47 season.  They played against other local teams but from the list of teams this was a club team.

The first varsity season was 1952-53 which still included games against freshman teams and prep schools.

The team played a full varsity schedule from 1953-54 to 1956-57 which included a 10-1-1 record in 1956-57.

The program was dropped to club status the following season and stayed there until 1961 when they joined the Worcester Hockey League.

Much of the data from 1961 to 1965 is missing

The team earned its first ECAC Division II Tournament bid and also achieved a national ranking for the first time in 1978.  They finished the season with a 17-8-3 record.

The team earned their first ever NCAA Tournament bid when they qualified for the 1981 Division II Tourament with a 20-7-2 record and earned another bid in 1983.

The team moved to the NCAA Division III level for the 1983-84 season.  The team went on to claim the ECAC championship  and win the first NCAA Division III Tournament in the first season in D-III.

Tom Sasso was the first ever Beaver to be drafted in the NHL Entry Draft being drafted by the Quebec Nordiques in 1985.  He also went on to become the schools first Hobey Baker Award winnner in 1986 and became the first person to win the award twice when he won it again in 1987.

The program posted 6 20-win seasons from 1984-85 to 1992-93. They won their second ECAC tournament win in 1992.
