The Austin Ice Bats are a junior hockey team. The team was announced as being a member of the North American 3 Hockey League on April 27, 2021.[1] They play out of Chaparral Ice in Austin, Texas starting in the 2021-22 season.
The team's name and logo is an homage to the famed colony of 3.5 million of free-tailed bats that live under Austin’s Congress Avenue bridge which inspired the original usage of the team name with the Austin Ice Bats who played in the Western Professional Hockey League and the Central Hockey League from 1996 to 2008.
