The Aurora Spartans are a NCAA Division III Men's Ice hockey program and a women's hockey program that started with the 2017-18 season, based out of Aurora University in Aurora, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago.  The team is based out of the Fox Valley Ice Arena.

Men's History[]

The school announced that it would expand its athletic offerings by a total of 20 programs including men's ice hockey on August 20, 2012. The school started with a club level team in the American Collegiate Hockey Association's Division III for the 2012-13 season finishing its first season with a 0-12-0 record.  In the second season of playing in the ACHA the team qualified for the national tournament, before jumping to the NCAA Division III level for 2014-15, finishing the season with a 36-4-1 record. The school announced on July 29, 2013 that they team would join the NCHA for 2015-16. The ice hockey team played as a Division III Independent for the 2014-15 season compiling a 1-15-1 record.  The school was added to the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association for the 2015-16 NCHA Men's Season.

On June 14, 2016 it was announced by the school and the NCHA that the women's program will commence play for the 2017-18 season.
