Ashley Tait (born on August 9, 1975 in Toronto, Canada) is an English ice hockey forward currently playing for Basingstoke Bison of the NIHL.
In 1989-90, Tait played for Nottingham Cougars. In 1990 - 1996, he played for Nottingham Panthers of the BHL with exception in season 1991-92 when he played for Lac St-Louis Lions of the QMAAA.
After a dissolution of the BHL in 1996, Tait played one more season with Nottingham Panthers in the BISL. Then he spent two seasons with Kingston Hawks of the BNL.
In 1999 - 2002, Tait spent three season with his hometown team Nottingham Panthers of the BISL.
Tait moved to Coventry to become the captain of Coventry Blaze in 2002, a year in which the BNL saw Coventry Blaze win the League and Play Off Championship. Coventry Blaze then made their move into the EIHL in 2003.
In 2004-2005 Tait was a member of the Blaze Grand Slam team and scored the Grand Slam winning goal against Nottingham in the play-off finals at the NIC, one of Tait’s 29 goals that season.
In 2007, the team secured the League Championship and Play Off title before Tait's move to Sheffield Steelers of the EIHL in 2007.
Tait played in Sheffield for two seasons. In 2009, he moved to Italy to play one season with Ritten/Renon of the Lega Italiana Hockey Ghiaccio. After that, he moved back to Sheffield and stayed here until the end of the 2012-13 season. In season 2011-12, he was not only a player, but he was in the role of the player-assistant coach.
In 2013 - 2017, Tait played again for Coventry Blaze and in 2013 - 2016 was Tait also the team's captain. He was not the captain for the 2016-17, because he was in the role of the player-assistant coach again.
Tait left Coventry in 2017 and started next season with Milton Keynes Lightning of the EIHL, but in the half of the season, Tait moved to Belfast Giants playing the same league.
Since 2018, Tait is the player-coach and the director of hockey operations with Basingstoke Bison. In his first seson, they played in NIHL 1 and since 2019, they play in NIHL.

Tait participated as a member of British National Team at the 1993 and 1994 World Junior Championships "Pool C", 1995 World Junior Championship "Pool C1", 1995, 1996, 1998 and 2000 World Championships "Pool B", 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011 World Championships Division I, 2013 World Championship Division IA and at the 2014 and 2016 World Championships Division IB.
