Playing career[]

Junior[]

During the 2006–2007 season, Roussel played midget hockey for the Collège Charles-Lemoyne Riverains in Longueuil. Later that season, Roussel joined the Chicoutimi Saguenéens of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). Roussel played for the Saguenéens for four years.[2]

After being a healthy scratch for several Bruins games, he was temporarily re-assigned to the Reading Royals of the ECHL where he played in five games.[3]

He was later invited to attend the Vancouver Canucks prospect camp.[4] His performance there led to him signing a contract with the Chicago Wolves, which at the time, were the Canucks' minor league affiliate.[5] Roussel played for the Wolves for the 2011-2012 season.

On July 2, 2012, Roussel signed a contract with the Dallas Stars.[6] During the 2012–2013 season, Roussel split his time between the Dallas Stars and their AHL affiliate, the Texas Stars. For the 2013–2014 season, Roussel was with the Dallas Stars the full season, playing 81 games.

On July 22, 2014, the Stars announced that Roussel had signed a four-year contract with the team worth $8 million.[7]
