Andrej Nestrašil (born on February 22, 1991 in Praha) is a Czech right winger/center playing with the Metallurg Magnitogorsk of the KHL.
Club career[]
Nestrašil played junior hockey in the Czech Republic for the HC Slavia Praha before moving to North America in 2008.
He began his North American journey with the Victoriaville Tigres of the QMJHL. He played with them two seasons. In the 2008-09 season played Nestrašil played at the CHL Top Prospects Game. Then Nestrašil moved to the Prince Edward Island Rocket playing the same league. He spent there one season.
In the 2011-12 season played Nestrašil 25 games with the Grand Rapids Griffins of the AHL and 51 games with the Toledo Walleye of the ECHL.
In the next season, he played 25 regular season games and 1 play-off game with the Griffins and 40 regular season games and 4 play-off games with the Walleye. In this season, Nestrašil became with the Griffins the AHL Midwest Division Champion, the AHL Western Conference Champion and the AHL Calder Cup Champion. He was also named the ECHL Plus Performer of the Month in December 2012.
Then he spent the whole 2013-14 season with the Griffins.
In the 2014-15 season, Nestrašil made his NHL debut. He played 13 games for the Detroit Red Wings scoring 2 points before being traded to the Carolina Hurricanes. So he continued the season with the Hurricanes playing 41 games and scoring 18 points. He also played 3 games for the Charlotte Checkers of the AHL in this season.
In the 2015-16 season, Nestrašil played only for the Hurricanes. He appeared in 55 games with a record of 23 points.
In the 2016-17, he played for both Hurricanes and Checkers. For the Hurricanes, Nestrašil played 19 games and scored 5 points. He also played 39 games for the Checkers and scored 14 points plus another 5 games and 1 point in the play-offs.
After this season, Nestrašil moved back to Europe. He spent next two seasons with the Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk of the KHL.
After the 2018-19 season, Nestrašil signed with the HC Oceláři Třinec of the Tipsport Extraliga. He played only 2 games for them, then he received the two-year contract from the Metallurg Magnitogorsk of the KHL and he signed.
International career[]
Nestrašil played for the Czech Republic at the 2009 World U18 Championship (where he was one of the top 3 players on the Czech team), 2010 and 2011 World Junior Championships and at the 2018 World Championship.
