Andrea Ironside was a member of the Laurier Golden Hawks women’s ice hockey program. In addition, she was a member of the Brampton Thunder during the 2010-11 CWHL season.[1] Honours earned at Laurier included three Ontario University Athletics (OUA) All-Star nominations, two Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) championship tournament All-Star nods and one CIS Second Team All Canadian selection.
Playing career[]
Ironside began playing hockey in her hometown of Collingwood at six years old. She competed in boys minor hockey and was interested in the sport because her two older brothers also participated. In the 2009-10 season, Ironside ranked second in the OUA scoring race with 30 points (tied with Lindsay Hill and Brenley Jorgensen of the Toronto Lady Blues). She was also the captain of the Laurier Golden Hawks during the season.[2] Ironside was a member of Team Canada which competed in women’s ice hockey at the 2011 Winter Universiade. She was part of the Gold Medal winning team and was also the team captain.[3] Three of her Laurier Golden Hawks teammates Andrea Martin, Liz Knox and Candice Styles were also on Team Canada.[4] Of note, Ironside was one of six returnees from the 2009 Universiade championship team.
