The Anaheim Ducks are a professional ice hockey team based in Anaheim, California, and playing in the National Hockey League. Founded in 1993 along with the Florida Panthers as the Anaheim Mighty Ducks, the team was renamed prior to the NHL Season 2006-07 to Ducks as the team no longer was owned by Disney, and therefore wished to cut all remaining links with their former owners. They won the first Stanley Cup of their history that very season, after defeating the Ottawa Senators.
