The American Royal Building is a former indoor arena located in the former stockyards of Kansas City, Missouri. The facility was primarily intended for hosting the American Royal Livestock Show. The facility was built in 1925 replacing a previous version of the building which burned down earlier in the year. The facility was not initially used for ice hockey when it opened. It would replace the Pla-Mor Ice Palace, (which had hosted hockey from 1928 to 1951 when it was converted to a bowling alley and dance hall) as the primary indoor ice hockey venue in the city when it was converted to host an ice making plant with the birth of the Kansas City Blues of the Central Hockey League (1963-1984) in 1967. The arena would be replaced by the Kemper Arena when it opened in 1972 and was built nearby.
