Alain Raymond was a Canadian professional goaltender who played one NHL game for the Washington Capitals. He was born on June 26, 1965, in Rimouski, Quebec.
Raymond played major junior for the Hull Olympiques and the Trois-Rivières Draveurs of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League from 1982 to 1985. He was drafted 215th overall by the Washington Capitals in the 1983 NHL Entry Draft.
After leaving junior, Raymond joined the Canadian National Team for the 1985-86 season. In 1986-87 he made his pro debut with the Fort Wayne Komets of the International Hockey League. Raymond shared the James Norris Memorial Trophy (for fewest goals against) with Michel Dufour.
Raymond made his NHL debut on December 9, 1987, when he played in the last two periods of a Capitals' 5-4 loss to the Hartford Whalers.
He was called up to the Capitals several times over the next few seasons, but only as a backup and never again got to play in an NHL game.
In 1990, Raymond signed as a free agent with the St. Louis Blues but retired in 1992 after two seasons in the minor pros.
