Aaron Johnson (April 30, 1983) is a professional ice hockey defenceman currently playing for the Columbus Blue Jackets of the National Hockey League (NHL).

Playing career[]

Johnson was drafted by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the 3rd round (85th overall) of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft. Columbus chose not to issue him a qualifying offer on June 27, 2007, making him a free agent. On July 12, 2007, Johnson was signed by the New York Islanders. A season later, Johnson signed with the Chicago Blackhawks on July 11, 2008. He was traded to the Calgary Flames for Kyle Greentree early in the 2009–10 season.[1] On March 3, 2010, Johnson (along with a 3rd round draft pick in 2011) was traded to the rival Edmonton Oilers, in exchange for Steve Staios.[2]

Johnson signed a one-year contract with the Columbus Blue Jackets on July 3, 2011.[3]
