Hockey Nova Scotia posted on December 4, 2024 that it was gauging interest in the establishment of what was originally planned as a U-22 league but has since changed it to interest in a U-25 league that could be run in conjunction with other provinces in Atlantic Canada either as a division within an Atlantic league or as a stand alone league with other provinces having their own league as well (the article wasn't clear on the number of leagues being established). The hope was to have teams in the province going with the 2025-26 playing season.[1]

The Women's Junior A Hockey League began play in Newfoundland & Labrador for the 2024-25 season.
