Future conference memberships and changes[]
The formation of Little East Conference (which was originally planned as a men's conference only), State University of New York Athletic Conference (morphing from the Northeast Women's Hockey League) , and Middle Atlantic Conference (seperating from the United Collegiate Hockey Conference) as well as the establishment of Little East Conference and Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference women's leagues make it so that all of the teams that are presently playing independent schedules will end up in a conference within the next few seasons as some conferences losing teams may need to add additional teams to be able to keep their automatic bids to the NCAA Division III Women's Ice Hockey Tournament.
- Rivier University in Nashua, New Hampshire announced that they would be starting new men's and women's hockey programs. Both will play an American Collegiate Hockey Association club schedule for 2021-22 and would transition to NCAA Division III status for 2022-23 playing as an independent. Ironically, the team would end up hiring the now former team's head coach and would be playing out of the same arena, the Fidelity Bank Worcester Ice Center. The start of the program was pushed back to 2022-23 due to issues as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The team is joining the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference for 2024-25.

- On December 9, 2022 the New England Hockey Conference announced that the Albertus Magnus Falcons women's ice hockey team will be added to the conference (along with the men's team) for the 2024-25 season.[3]

- On May 15, 2024 the United Collegiate Hockey Conference announced the addition of Albertus Magnus Falcons (men's and women's).
