This is the 2023-24 Ontario Junior Hockey League season. This is the league's 14th season as a re-established league after the league members played in 2 separate leagues for the 2009-10 season.
Membership changes[]
- At the end of July, 2020 the Buffalo Jr. Sabres and the league announced that they were taking a leave of absence for the 2020-21 season due to the closure of the Canada-US border. Being the only US-based team in the league, the team's players were to be dispersed to the other teams in the league for the 2020-21 season.[1] They were hopeful to return to play for the 2021-22 season but it would be announced on August 13, 2021 the team would also sitting out the 2021-22 season as well citing the pandemic and cross-border travel.[2] The league would announce that the team would also be taking the 2022-23 season off as well when the league's schedule was released.[3] On January 16, 2023 the team announced that they were returning for the 2023-24 season.[4]
- On May 17, 2023 the Leamington Flyers were announced as joining the OJHL from the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League for the 2023-24 season.[5]
- On June 26, 2023 the Niagara Falls Canucks were announced as being an expansion team in the Ontario Junior Hockey League for the 2023-24 season,[6] ending their tenure in the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League.[7]
On February 7, 2023, the Hamilton Bulldogs of the Ontario Hockey League announced that the club would be moving to Brantford, Ontario, for three seasons due to renovations and the long-term closure of First Ontario Centre beginning this season. The team also announced that the team would be known as the Brantford Bulldogs and play at the Brantford Civic Centre.[8] Despite saying that this would not affect the Brantford 99ers franchise, the 99ers announce on May 27, 2024 that they would be relocating to King, Ontario and would be renamed the King Rebellion.[9][10]
