League expansion[]
The league had announced two new independent College Transfer Teams for Kamloops (Thompson Okanagan Pioneers) and Chilliwack/Abbotsford (Fraser Valley Brigade).[1] Neither team materialized.
On February 8, 2022 the BCIHL announced that it would add the College Transfer Team of the Logan Lake Miners, made up of players from Thompson Rivers University and Nicola Valley Institute of Technology, for the 2022-23 season. The team was based out of the Logan Lake Recreation Centre in Logan Lake, British Columbia.[2]
After competing for 2 years without a nickname after dropping the Clan nickname, Simon Fraser University announced on September 6, 2022 that the teams will use the Simon Fraser Red Leafs moniker going forward.[3]
