
The 2021 Don Johnson Memorial Cup was to be the Maritime Junior B Championship tournament. This was to be the 34th time the event was to have been held dating back to the first event held in 1982. No event was held from 1991 to 1996. It is the New Brunswick Junior Hockey League's turn to host the tournament. The tournament was scheduled for late April, 2021.
The tournament would be cancelled on February 5th when four the four provincial ice hockey governing bodies Hockey New Brunswick, Hockey Newfoundland and Labrador, Hockey Nova Scotia, and Hockey PEI) involved unanimously decided to cancel the event along with all inter-branch playoffs under its each of its jurisdicitons.[1]
Planned format[]
The host team plus the league playoff champions of the Island Junior Hockey League, New Brunswick Junior Hockey League, Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League, and the St. John's Junior Hockey League meet in a round robin tournament. The top four teams qualify for the semifinals with the semifinal winners meeting for the tournament championship and a spot in the 2021 Centennial Cup being held in Penticton, British Columbia.
