This is the 2021-22 Kootenay International Junior Hockey League season. This is the league's 61st season.
Membership changes[]
- Due to restrictions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic the 100 Mile House Wranglers, Beaver Valley Nitehawks, and Spokane Braves all opted to sit out the 2020-21 season. All of the teams would return to the league for the 2021-22 season.[1] However on August 18th the league announced that the Spokane Braves would not be participating due to uncertainty involving travel across the Canadian-US border.[2]
- On August 3, 2022 the league announced that the Spokane Braves would not be participating in the 2022-23 season due to issues involving recruiting a team that could meet Canada's COVID-19 vaccination policy to enter Canada.[3]

Playoffs[]
Format[]
The top four teams in each division qualify for the playoffs, except due to the uneven number of teams in the Kootenay Conference, if the fifth place team in the Mountain Division finishes with a superior record they will qualify as a wild card and assume the fourth seed in the Murdoch Division.
The playoff champion advances to the 2022 Cyclone Taylor Cup for the provincial Junior B championship which is being held in Ladner, British Columbia hosted by the Delta Ice Hawks of the Pacific Junior Hockey League.
