This is the 2020-21 Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League season. This is the league's 71st season overall dating back to the Eastern Junior B Hockey League, Metro Junior A Hockey League, and the Western Junior B Hockey League in 1950. The league has used the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League name since 2007 when 3 leagues (Mid-Western Junior Hockey League, Golden Horseshoe Junior Hockey League and Western Ontario Hockey League) merged to form the present league.
The league would announce the cancellation of the 2020-21 playing season on April 12, 2021.[1]
Membership Changes[]
- In April 2020, it was announced that the Junior C level Ayr Centennials of the Provincial Junior Hockey League (OHA) had purchased the Kitchener Dutchmen with the intention of acquiring their place in the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League, thus promoting the team to Junior B status. As a result of the Dutchmen leaving Kitchener the Waterloo Siskins are renamed the Kitchener-Waterloo Siskins.
- The Brampton Bombers relocated to Caledon and are renamed the Caledon Bombers.
- In late August 2020 it was announced that the Buffalo Regals would be sitting out the 2020-21 season. The Regals were sitting out due to the fact they can't cross the US-Canada border to play their games.[2]
