This is the 2020-21 Greater Metro Junior A Hockey League season. This is the league's 14th season.
Return to Play Plan[]
The league is planning on evaluating the circumstances on a bi-weekly basis with evaluations being made on October 1, October 15, November 1, November 15, and December 1. The intent is to determine if play can be resumed within 14 days. The league is working with various levels of government under the jurisdiction of its' membership.[1]
Actual Game Play[]
The league would have six teams from North and South Divisions play two games each between October and December with no other games being played in the east due to provincial restrictions. The West Division played some games in late October and restarted play in early April and ending in early May working in coordination with the province of Alberta.[2]
Membership Changes[]
- On March 2, 2020 the London Lakers announced they would be relocating to town of Plattsville within the township of Blantford-Blanheim, Ontario taking the name Plattsville Lakers.[3]
- On March 10, 2020 the league announced it would expand to the Fox Creek Greenview Multiplex in Fox Creek, Alberta.[4] On June 11th the team was announced as being named the Fox Creek Ice Kings.
- On April 20, 2020 it was announced that the South Muskoka Shield would be returning to the Graeme Murray Arena in Gravenhurst, Ontario for the 2020-21 season.[5]
- On May 10, 2021, the Toronto Predators announced they were relocating to the Meridian Credit Union Arena in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario for the 2021-22 season and will be renamed the Niagara-on-the-Lake Predators.[6]
- The Tottenham Steam are renamed the Tottenham Thunder
