Traditionally, the three league champions of British Columbia's Junior B leagues and the host team will meet in a single round robin tournament with the first and second place teams from the round robin meeting in the championship game for a berth in the Keystone Cup, which is the Western Canada Junior B championship.  However, during the 2017 off season both representatives (the three BC based leagues themselves as Hockey BC does not mandate participating in regional and national events) and governing body (Hockey Alberta) announced that the teams would no longer participate in the event. A possible tournament for teams from British Columbia, Alberta, and Saskatchewan has been mentioned for either 2018 or 2019 but nothing has been officially announced.
