
This is the 2019-20 Southern Professional Hockey League season. This is the league's 15th season.
League play suspended[]
On March 12th the league issued the following statement:
"For the safety of our fans, players, team personnel and arena staff, the Southern Professional Hockey League today announced that due to concerns over the COVID-19 (coronavirus) outbreak, it has suspended the 2019-2020 season effective immediately." The SPHL and its member teams will continue to monitor developments over the weekend and provide an update on the 2019-2020 season in the near future.[1]
The league would officially cancel the season on March 15th.[2]
Membership Changes[]
- On May 24, 2018 the Mississippi RiverKings announced they were suspending operations for the 2018-19 season. The league was seeking new ownership in the hopes of bringing the organization back for 2019-20.[3] No official word on if the team will return for the 2019-20 season and the team's website has not been updated since the announcement that the team was suspending operations.
