This is the 2019-20 Northeast Women's Hockey League season. This is the league's third season.
The conference will maintain an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Women's Ice Hockey Tournament for the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons. This is despite the league being under the required threshold for an automatic bid to the conference. The conference will have to add at least two more members prior to the start of the 2019-20 season to be able to keep the automatic bid. The conference added one team each for the 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons and thus will be able to keep the automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
Membership Changes[]
- The conference added the Canton Kangaroos from the Colonial Hockey Conference for the 2019-20 season.
- The conference will also be adding the Morrisville Mustangs from the Colonial Hockey Conference for the 2019-20 season.

The top four teams qualify for the single elimination conference tournament. The tournament champion earns the conference's bid to the 2020 NCAA Division III Women's Ice Hockey Tournament.
