Suspension of Season[]
The league issued the following statement on March 12th: "The Federal Prospects Hockey League is announcing today that its 2019-20 season is postponed indefinitely effective March 13 due to the health concerns surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic across the world.
Today's game between the Elmira Enforcers and the Watertown Wolves in First Arena will go an as scheduled with no fans in attendance. After that game is completed, the league will go into a suspended state."[1]
On March 16th the league would announce that it was cancelling the balance of the season effective immediately.[2][3]
Membership Changes[]
- On April 22, 2019 the league announced the addition of a team based in Danbury, Connecticut for the 2019-20 season. A formal unveiling of name and colors will be held May 3rd.[4]
- On May 21, 2019 the league announced the addition of the Columbus River Dragons who will be based out of the Columbus Civic Center in Columbus, Georgia.[5]
- Just prior to the announcement of the Columbus team, the oursportscentral.com[6] and busleaguehockey.com[7] listed the Delaware Thunder as a member of the league. The team will apparently be based out of Dover, Delaware.
- Postings on several websites and statements made by owners of the Delaware team when they were formally announced indicate a tenth team is planned for the 2019-20 season. Speculation was pointing towards Battle Creek, Michigan[8] The league announced on July 23rd that the tenth team would be the Battle Creek Rumble Bees. The team will be based out of the The Rink Ice Arena in Battle Creek, Michigan.[9]
- The Battle Creek Rumble Bees would quietly fold after the 2019-20 season was cancellled.
