This is the 2017-18 Sask/Alta Senior Hockey League season.  This is the league's 64th season.

Membership Changes[]

  • After being mentioned as returning to the league in early September; the Paradise Valley Jets sit out the 2017-18 season.
  • The Viking Gas Kings announced on September 22, 2017 that due to a lack of players they would not be icing a team this year.
  • The Marwayne Comets announced on September 28, 2017 that they had requested and received a leave of absence for the 2017-18 season.

Teams[]

The teams were originally broken up into two six team divisions but that was changed to a single table with each team playing the teams that would have been in their own division twice and the other division once. The table is left to show the break up for the league schedule

note: based on league tie-breaking procedures Elk Point finished ahead of Two Hill based on outscoring them 9 goals to 7 (3-6, 6-1) in the two meetings during the regular season and  St. Walburg finished ahead of Lashburn by sweeping the season series 2 games to none (3-2, 4-3).

Playoffs[]

Format[]

The top eight teams qualify for the playoffs. The quarterfinals are best-of-five series with 1 vs 8, 2 vs 7, 3 vs 6 4 vs 5. The teams are re-seeded for the best-of-seven semifinals with 1 vs 4 and 2 vs 3. The semifinal winners meet in a best-of-seven series for the league championship and a spot in the 2018 Alberta Senior AA playoffs.

The playoff champion qualifies for the 2018 Alberta Senior AA playoffs being held March 22-25, 2018 the R. J. Lalonde Arena in Bonnyville, Alberta hosted by the Bonnyville Sr. Pontiacs.

Consolation Playoffs[]

The ninth through twelfth place teams participate in a two round playoff. The semifinal round is best-of-five with the final round being best-of-seven.
