This is the 2017-18 Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League season. This is the leagues 12th season under this name and its' 38th season overall. The league was previously known as the Mainland Junior B Hockey League from 1980 to 1992 and the Nova Scotia Junior B Hockey League from 1992 to 2006.

On February 15, 2018 long time league president Dave Campbell passed away.  He served as league president for 27 years.

Membership Changes[]

  • None for 2017-18 but in early February 2018 the league announced it would be adding a team from the Eskasoni First Nation for the 2018-19 season.  The team would be later announced as being named the Eskasoni Eagles.

Standings[]

The league has adopted a three point system for standings 3 points for a regulation win; 2 points for an overtime or shootout win, 1 point for a overtime or shootout loss, no points for a regulation loss.

Playoffs[]

Format[]

The top four teams in each division qualify. The first place team in each division plays the 4th place team and the 2nd place team plays the 3rd place team in the division semifinal round. The Division Semfinals winners meet in the division final and the division winners meet for the league championship. All series are best-of-seven. The playoff champion advances to the 2018 Don Johnson Memorial Cup being hosted by the Kameron Jr. Miners. As the Miners won the league playoffs, the runners-up the East Hants Penguins qualify as league representative.
