This is the 2017-18 NCAA Division-II and Division-III Men's Independents season.
Membership Changes[]
- The Daniel Webster Eagles cease play as the school is consolidated into Southern New Hampshire University after the school filed for bankruptcy.
- On October 7, 2016 Bryn Athyn College announced they were moving their men's hockey program (Bryn Athyn Lions) to Division III varsity status. The school has been competing at the ACHA Men's Division III level. The school already has an on-campus rink in the Jungé Ice Rink. Nicknamed the Lion's Den, the facility is an open to air facility.
- The Canton Kangaroos contiue to play as an independent after being rejected for membership in the State University of New York Athletic Conference. The team had played 18 games against SUNYAC teams in 2016-17 but that number will be down to 12 in 2017-18 as the team schedules four games with Bryn Athyn and several other games with United Collegiate Hockey Conference teams.
- The Post University Eagles were added to the Northeast-10 conference as a scheduling partner. The team played 3 games each against the conference's six members. Originally, it was made to sound as the team was part of the league schedule but the games were done to help all seven school's round out their schedules. Post did not participate in the conference tournament either. Post would compile a 2-15-1 record against the NE-10 schools with a win and a tie over Stonehill and a win over Franklin PIerce.
