This is the 2017-18 Central Canada Hockey League Tier 2 season. This is the league's 3rd season under this name and the league's 53rd season dating back to the founding of the Rideau-St Lawrence Junior B League in 1966. The league was known as the Eastern Ontario Junior Hockey League prior to the 2015-16 season.
Tragic Accident[]
The league was shocked by the deaths of two members of the Renfrew Timberwolves who were killed as a result of a car accident on October 27, 2017. Brandon Hanniman and Alex Paquette were killed. Two additional players were hurt. Ben Scheuneman was in critical condition and Jake McGrimmon was recovering from his injuries.[1]
Membership Changes[]
- The Clarence Beavers relocated to Carleton Place where they will be renamed the Carleton Place Jr. Canadians as the junior B affiliate of the similarly labeled Carleton Place Canadians of the Central Canada Hockey League.
- The Prescott Flyers were purchased by their CCHL affiliate the Pembroke Lumber Kings and were being relocated to Cobden where they will be known as the Whitewater Kings. The town of Prescott would be getting a team in the National Capital Junior Hockey League that will be called the South Grenville Rangers.
- The Metcalfe Jets dropped down to the Junior C level National Capital Junior Hockey League and were being replaced by the Embrun Panthers who were conversely moving up from the NCJHL.
