This is the 2016-17 Island Junior Hockey League season This is the league's 20th season.
The league is playing a limited cross over schedule with the Junior B teams in the New Brunswick Junior Hockey League. The teams play a home and a road game against each team during the course of the season. These games count in the standings for both leagues.

- The Montague Maniacs moved back to the Eastern Kings Sportsplex in Souris, Prince Edward Island and were renamed the Eastern Maniacs
