The 2011–12 Dallas Stars season is the 45th season (44th of play) for the National Hockey League franchise that was established on June 5, 1967,^[1] and 19th season (18th of play) since the franchise relocated to Dallas to start the 1993–94 NHL season.

The team failed to qualify for the playoffs for the fourth year in a row.

Off-Season[]

On June 17, 2011, the Stars officially announced the hiring of Glen Gulutzan to be their new head coach.^[2] Gulutzan had been the head coach of the Stars' American Hockey League affiliate, the Texas Stars.
