The 2009-10 season saw the league down to 8 teams as the Fox Creek Bandits and Lamont Bruins folded. Onoway had the best regular season record, with the rest of the pack jostling for position in what turned out to be a very competitive season. Onoway, Legal, Drayton Valley and Edson all advanced to the semi finals. In the semi finals, Onoway defeated Legal and Drayton Valley defeated Edson, with both best of 5 series ending in 3 games. Onoway defeated Drayton Valley in an entertaining 5 game final series to win their second consecutive NCHL championship.
