The 06-07 season started again with nine teams, although Westlock dropped out and the Legal Vipers were added. In their second season, the Onoway Ice Dogs went from last place overall in 2006, to the best regular season record in 2007, increasing by 31 points in the standings. The other expansion team from last season, the Lamont Bruins, lead the North Division. Lamont defeated Slave Lake in the north semi final, while Onoway defeated Drayton Valley in the South semi final. Lamont swept Onoway in the finals to win their first NCHL championship, ending Slave Lake's 5 year run.
