Membership Changes[]
- Salve Regina Seahawks join the conference from being a D-III Independent
- St. Michael's Purple Knights added to the conference as a new program
- The Colgate Raiders and Vermont Catamounts leave the conference to join D-I ECAC
- Nine schools leave the conference to form the New England Small College Athletic Conference. They include the Amherst Lord Jeffs, Bowdoin Polar Bears, Colby Mules, Connecticut College Camels, Hamilton Continentals, Middlebury Panthers, Southern Maine Huskies, Trinity Bantams, Wesleyan Cardinals, and Williams Ephs

NCAA Tournament[]
The Manhattanville Valiants earned the conference bid to the 2002 NCAA Division III Women's Ice Hockey Tournament. They defeated the Bowdoin Polar Bears 2-1 in overtime in the semifinals, and lost to the Elmira Soaring Eagles 2-1 in the national championship game.
