The 2001–02 CHL season was the 10th season of the Central Hockey League (CHL).
Franchise changes[]
- The Columbus Cottonmouths leave the league and join the ECHL.
- The Macon Whoopee leave the league and join the ECHL.
- The Fayetteville Force folded.
- The Topeka Scarecrows are sold, withdraw from the league and join the junior level USHL.
- The Huntsville Tornado go inactive, the return 2 seasons later as the Huntsville Channel Cats in the South East Hockey League.
The league added ten teams when it merged with the Western Professional Hockey League:
