2000 Stanley Cup Playoffs

The 2000 Stanley Cup playoffs, the championship of the National Hockey League (NHL), began in April, and concluded in June. The sixteen teams that qualified, eight from each conference, played best-of-7 series for conference quarterfinals, semifinals and championships, and then the conference champions played a best-of-7 series for the Stanley Cup.

The playoffs ended when the New Jersey Devils defeated the reigning champions the Dallas Stars in a six game series to win their second Stanley Cup title in their history. Devils defenseman Scott Stevens was awarded the Conn Smythe Trophy as the MVP of the playoffs.

New Jersey received home ice advantage by having more regular-season point than Dallas. The teams split the first two games, held in New Jersey. The Devils then won the following two in Dallas to take a 3–1 series lead. Dallas fought off elimination with a triple-overtime win in game five in New Jersey. The Devils countered with a double-overtime victory in game six in Dallas to win the Cup.
