This was the 2000-01 West Coast Hockey League season. This was the league's sixth season.
Franchise changes[]
- The league added the Long Beach Ice Dogs from the International Hockey League.
- The league had approved the addition of the Las Vegas Wranglers, however they were unable to secure a lease and had to wait for a new rink to be built. They would finally take to the ice in 2003 after the WCHL had merged with the East Coast Hockey League.
