1997-98 UHL season

This was the 1997-98 United Hockey League season.  This was the league's first season under this name and seventh overall.  The league was known as the Colonial Hockey League from 1991 to 1997.

Franchise changes

• The Dayton Ice Bandits sat out the season.  The franchise was reactivated for the 1998-99 season as the Utica, New York based Mohawk Valley Prowlers.
• The Utica Blizzard were relocated to Winston-Salem, North Carolina and were renamed the Winston-Salem Icehawks.
• The Binghamton, New York based B. C. Icemen were added as an expansion team to replace the departed Binghamton Rangers of the AHL.
