The 1986-87 Ottawa District Intermediate Playoff champion was the Smiths Falls Rideaus. In the 1986-87 Eastern Canada Intermediate Playoffs, they defeated the OHA champion, Durham Huskies, three games to one in the semi-finals. They lost to New Brunswick champion and eventual Hardy Cup champion, the Miramichi Packers, in the final, four games to one.
