The 1986–87 Toronto Maple Leafs season was the Toronto Maple Leafs 70th season of the franchise, 60th season as the Maple Leafs. The Maple Leafs finished 4th in the Norris Division and lost in the Division Finals to the Detroit Red Wings 4 games to 3.

Regular Season[edit | edit source]

Francis "King" Clancy, former defenceman with Ottawa and Toronto, had to undergo surgery to remove his gall bladder. Unfortunately, infection from the gall bladder seeped into his body during surgery, causing him to go into septic shock. He died November 10th, 1986.
