The 1986–87 Chicago Black Hawks season was the Hawks' 61st season in the NHL. The franchise changed the spelling of their name from "Black Hawks" to "Blackhawks." The Hawks finished 3rd in the Norris Division and lost in the Division Semi-finals to the Detroit Red Wings 4 games to 0.
