The 1984 Frozen Four was held March 22-24, 1984 in Lake Placid, New York at 1980 Olympic Arena.
The participants were:
- Bowling Green State University
- Michigan State University
- University of Minnesota-Duluth
- University of North Dakota
Bowling Green, playing in only its second Frozen Four, defeated the Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs, who were playing in their very first Frozen Four, 5-4 in triple overtime. Gino Cavallini's goal ended what was at that time the longest ever game in college hockey history. For just the second time, all four teams were from the West.
