This was the 1983-84 Atlantic Coast Hockey League season. This was the league's third season.
Franchise changes[]
- The Nashville South Stars relocated to Vinton, Virginia early in the season and were renamed the Virginia Lancers.
- The Pinebridge Bucks were added as an expansion team.
- The Virginia Raiders and Hampton Roads Gulls folded.
- The Birmingham Bulls were added to the league as a replacement for the Central Hockey League's Birmingham South Stars franchise which disbanded when the affiliation is ended. The Bulls would suspend operations on October 10, 1983.
