The 1982–83 Pittsburgh Penguins season was the team's 16th in the National Hockey League. The Penguins finished 6th in the Patrick Division and did not qualify for the playoffs.

Regular Season[]

This was the Penguins worst season to that point, winning a meagre 18 games and accumulating only 45 points. They finished in last place in the NHL.

General Manager Baz Bastien was killed as a result of an automobile collision on March 15, 1983. The team wore black armbands on their home jerseys for the remainder of the season in his honour.
