The 1973 Frozen Four was held March 15-17, 1973. The tournament took place in Boston, Massachusetts at Boston Garden for the second straight year.

The participants were:

In its third attempt, the Wisconsin Badgers won their first national championship, defeating Denver 4-2.

Denver's participation in the tournament, however, was later vacated by the NCAA Committee on Infractions. Therefore, the Pioneers did not officially participate in the 1973 Frozen Four, despite a second place finish.
